Prominent Egyptian actor Hussein Fahmi has filed a complaint to the Egyptian Actors Union against the ‘Media Production City’ claiming that he was not paid his remaining wages for the television drama “Baba Nour”. Hussein stated that the ‘Media City Production’ still owes him 120 thousand Egyptian pounds and by not paying him they are breaking the terms of the contract he has with them.
On their part, the ‘Media City Production’ filed a complaint against Hussein claiming that he broke the terms of the contract by signing with another company and filming the television drama “Maktoob Ala Al Jibeeb” (Written on the forehead) at the same time as he was filming “Baba Nour”, which in turn negatively affected the marketing of the latter drama.
Hussein stressed that there is no justifiable reason to not paying him his complete wages and him starring in a different drama has nothing to do with marketing “Baba Nour” since it is not his responsibility how the drama is promoted.
The actor said that all accusations against him are not valid, especially singe “Baba Nour” was aired during the recent Ramadan season on nine different channels and “Maktoub Ala Al Jibeen” was not not aired. He added that his contract with the ‘Media City Production’ does not state he cannot sign with another company to star in a different work. The only thing the first contract states is that the actor is to abide by the filming schedules for the drama.
Hussein noted that he at first sent a warning demanding that his wages are paid in full and after waiting five months, he wrote a complaint to the Union in the hope that he will be compensated.
