Tunisian singer Latifa has been criticized for her silence over the current conditions in Tunisia, including attacks against her posted on different internet websites. Latifa has always been known for her political activity and support for Arab nations in their fight to gain freedom and security.
Since the crisis broke out in Tunisia the singer has made no public remarks and the only reference made was a short statement on her official website saying that ‘Tunisia is in my heart and may God protect Tunisia and its people’.
Sources claim when Israel attacked Lebanon summer of 2006, Latifa announced that she intended on buying a house in the southern Lebanon to show her support. She has also pledged her support to Palestinians living in the Gaza Strip and mourns the loss of lives there.
