Lawsuit against Janat in Egypt

The Egyptian Musician Union has filed a lawsuit against Moroccan singer Janat accusing her of not paying due taxes to a performance she held recently. Janat had held a concert at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Cairo and did not pay the fees set by the Union, meaning she broke the law of holding performances by non-Egyptians.

Janat is scheduled to stand trial in front of the Union to present her case.

Tunisian singer Saber Ribae was previously scheduled to hold the concert instead of Janat, but Saber had apologized for not being able to perform due to the depression state he is in over the unstable political conditions and his country Tunisia.

On a different note, several months ago, Janat announced her split from the production ‘Good News for Music’, which had produced her past two albums “Ili Baini wi Bainak” (What is between us) and “Hub Imtilak” (Love of possession).
