A group of Egyptian people have created a page on the internet social network Facebook against Lebanese singer Elissa and titled it “March of Millions to ban Elissa”. The page was created after circulating rumors that the singer intends on holding a concert in the southern shores of Egypt.
The campaign against Elissa is based on the belief that the singer had criticized and insulted conditions in Egypt after the January 25 Revolution that overthrew the government of ousted President Husni Mubarak. The group of people who created the page called for immediate action to be taken to forbid the singer from entering Egypt and performing.
Many visitors to the page created stated that they are angered by Elissa’s comments that Egypt has become a chaotic and unstable place implying that the revolution was not a very successful one. People threatened that they will hold March of Millions to stop Elissa from entering Egypt and demand she be prosecuted for insulting revolutionaries and their cause.
It was announced that Elissa intends on holding a grand performance in Egypt as a way of making amends with the Egyptian people in the hope that they would forgive her for the remarks she had made about Egypt in the post revolution phase.
