Egyptian actress Muna Zaki has denied allegations that she intends on joining a political party or even forming one after her active participation in Egypt’s January 25 Revolution that overthrew the government of former President Husni Mubarak.

Muna said that she and her husband participated in the protests to fight corruption and to ensure that their daughter lives in a safe and stable world under a secure and just political regime.

According to the internet website MBC.net, Muna stressed that she is not part of any political party.

“I protested for the future of my country and to speak out against the injustices of the former political regime of Mubarak,” said Muna, adding that she wants to practice her constitutional rights freely and live in a democratic country.

Muna said that she did not think of herself and her career while protesting, but thought of her rights as a human being and an Egyptian citizen.
