Lebanese singer Nelly Maqdasi has decided to change her usual Bedouin singing style, which her fans were accustomed to, and began singing famous songs from the past by some of the most prominent singers.
According to the London based Elaph, singing songs from the past was a successful attempt by Lebanese singer Nancy Ajram, Syrian singer George Wassouf, Lebanese Nawal Al Zoughbi and others.
Nelly has recorded a remix of the songs “Ala Ayni” and “Mistanyak” (Waiting for you), which is by the late singer Azizah Jalal, and filmed both songs at ‘New Look’ studios. The songs were filmed with Nelly singing live with a large orchestra behind her and director Buddy Ma’looli created the atmosphere of the old Egyptian and Arab films.
Nancy had also sung the song “Mistanyak” and there is sure to be a comparison between her and Nelly on whose performance is more successful.
