Egyptian folk singer Saed Al Sughair has announced his pulling out of the Egyptian Presidential Elections considering his official entry into the race a joke. Saed said that he had previously announced his running for elections as a way to express his opposition at the conditions placed by the elections committee for the position of President of Egypt.
Saed, who is known as “Mutrib Al Himar” (Singer of the donkey), said that the whole matter of running for president was a joke and it was his way of expressing his opinion in regards to the conditions and people running for the elections, adding that he was shocked by the negative attacks against him.
Saed stressed that he did not insult the position of being president as was alleged, but the government had done so and the matter irritated him and made him decide to run in the elections. He said that the only thing he knows how to do is sing and is not an appropriate candidate for the presidency.
