Egyptian singer Shireen Abd Al Wahab has recently held a live concert at the Dubai Shopping Festival. Shireen’s performance was one of the first to be held at the festival. The singer was late in arriving and many had assumed that she would be cancelling her performance due to the current uprising by the Egyptian people against the current government.
According to the London based Elaph, upon her arrival, Shireen made no statements to the press regarding her feelings about what is going on in Egypt and got on stage and began singing. After the first song, Shireen said to all present that she is very sad about the conditions in Egypt and was very hesitant about coming, but after thinking matters over, she decided not to cancel her performance.
Shireen sang a collection of her most popular new and old hits. During the concert, the audience requested Shireen to sing a song for egypt, and she sadly sang “Ma Shribtish Min Neelha” (I did not drink the Nile).
