After an absence that lasted over three years, Egyptian television host Hala Sarhan finally returned to Cairo. At the airport crowds of artists and journalists were waiting for the arrival of Hala, in addition to most of the employees of the television channel ‘Rotana’. Some of those present included prominent director Khaled Yousif, actress Mai Izz El Din and retired belly dancer Zizi Mustafa.
Director Ali Rajab was able to convince officials at the airport to allow two performing bands to perform for Hala at the airport to give her a warm welcome.
Hala arrived holding an Egyptian flag and was overwhelmed by the welcome she received to the point of tears. She stressed that she is grateful for the recent revolution in Egypt, which overthrew the regime of ousted President Husni Mubarak, that was the cause of her return to Egypt after her ban.
Hala was forced out of Egypt after being attacked with criticism and lawsuits over a program she held in 2007 about prostitutes and their relationships with political officials in Egypt.
