ALBAWABA - Thanksgiving is a time of indulgence, feasting, and spending quality time with family and friends. However, it does not have to be an excuse to abandon healthy eating habits.

With some thoughtful preparation, you can enjoy a delicious Thanksgiving meal while still maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Here are some tips to help you enjoy a healthy Thanksgiving:

1. Start with a healthy breakfast

Start your day with a well-balanced breakfast that includes protein, whole grains, and fruits or vegetables. This will keep you feeling full and energized throughout the day and prevent you from overeating during the Thanksgiving meal.

2. Plan your meals ahead of Time

It may be useful to plan what you will be eating ahead of time. This will help you make healthier choices and control your portions. You can also choose to make healthier versions of your favorite recipes by using whole grain flour, less salt, and sugar.

3. Mix in a few healthy alternatives

Thanksgiving doesn't come every day, so it's understandable if someone maybe wants to eat not the most healthy food out there, and not go the healthy Thanksgiving route, but that doesn't mean mixing some healthy alternatives here and there isn't possible. Balance is the key.

4. Stay active

Try not to run to the sofa or bed after a meal, if anything try to use that time to maybe talk with relatives and catch up or maybe even go on a walk.

5. Stay hydrated

Drinking plenty of water is essential, especially on Thanksgiving. Drinking water prior to your meal can curb your appetite and prevent overeating. Water also helps in digestion, keeping you feeling full and hydrated.

6. Control Your portion sizes

Try to control your portions while enjoying the different dishes on the Thanksgiving table. Eating smaller portions frequently could help in avoiding overeating and feeling full.

So while Thanksgiving is a time to enjoy with family and friends, you can still enjoy this holiday without compromising your health. It is all about being mindful of your choices and focusing on healthy options. Healthy Thanksgiving is very much so a real thing.
