In honor of the Holy Month of Ramadan, the Egypian government has announced it will offer citizens a hefty pay bump of seven Egyptian pounds, the equivalent of $1. And according to Twitter, Egyptians aren't so keen.

Rampant youth unemployment hangs at around 40 percent in the country, and around a quarter of it's 83 million people population lives in poverty.  But as Al Jazeera counts, the good news is this Ramadan bump could get you four and a half falafel sandwiches, five kilos of bananas, or three packets of potato chips. Woah.

In response, the Internet took off with a trending hashtag out of Egypt — in English, "What will I do with seven pounds?"
