A video going viral on social media may show EgyptAir Flight MS804 on fire as it careened through the night air near Greece early this morning.

The flight carrying 66 people disappeared over the Mediterranean around 2:00 A.M. on Thursday. It had taken off from Paris a few hours before and was scheduled to land in Cairo.

The president of France confirmed that the flight crashed, but did not say what the cause might be.

Residents of Greece said they saw a "ball of fire" in the sky around the time that the plane disappeared, according to multiple reports.

The video, which claims to have been filmed around the time of the plane's disappearance, was broadcast in the Greek media--as well as on YouTube and Twitter--on Thursday morning. But the video is unverified and its source is not known.
