An Egyptian MP has shocked colleagues by sending a pornographic movie to a WhatsApp group set up for MPs.
Osama Sharshar appeared to have mistakenly sent the embarrassing movie to 256 of his parliamentary colleagues, members of a group set up to discuss parliamentary issues on WhatsApp.
The independent MP – who is also the Editor in Chief of al-Nahar newspaper in Egypt – filed a police complaint claiming that the video has been sent after his account was hacked. The invasion, he said, was intended as a slight against his reputation, and he demanded officials take legal action against the hackers. He said he had no idea that the tape had been sent until his colleague, Mohammed Bakri, warned him about it.
The Egyptian public, however, was far from convinced of Sharshar’s innocence.

Sharshar’s fellow Member of Parliament Ala’a Abed said that the video is humiliating and the MP involved should be punished according to law. The case has reportedly been sent to the General Prosecutor for further action.
