Imam Tawhidi, the controversial Iranian-Australian Islamic scholar, is facing continuous harassment and hatred from Islamic extremists due to his radical ideologies and controversial views.
Tawhidi, known also as the Imam of Peace, said he had received death threats on one of his FB posts from Ali Khakani, the son of a leading Shia Muslim Imam in Western Australia, who called for the murderer of the Imam.
The threats were received on a post that was deleted shortly after, in which Imam Tawhidi was wishing a happy birthday to an Australian right-wing senator, Pauline Hanson (dated May 26, 2018)
The post prompted anger among Muslims, leading Ali Khakani, who uses an Arabic Facebook account named “Ali al Uboodi”, to express his surprise and “strong” desire to kill the Imam. Surprisingly, Ali’s comment found a backer who said Tawhidi is one of the people he might wish to kill in cold blood.
Ali replied to him, sinisterly, saying he don’t mind spending his life in jail if it is for killing Imam Tawhidi. “I swear to God, I don’t mind going to jail if someone hands me Tawhidi.”

This is not the first time in which Khakani the son of Imam Hussain al Shatri al Uboodi, known as Shaikh al Khakani, has used violent language.
Tawhidi added that he has captured more than 20 screenshots and videos of harrassment from Khakani.
According to AltNewsMedia, Imam Tawhidi had filed reports of death threats to the Australian Security Intelligence Organisation (ASIO) and the Australian Federal Police.
Tawhidi’s supporters have demonstrated humour, and a little concern.
Garry Hoare went to mock the image displayed for Khakani saying: “He looks so friendly ! His parents must be soooooooo proud!”
Isam Toma commented wondering how Khakani is still allowed to have an account on Facebook: “I wonder how Facebook still let him have an account he should be banned for life.”
Jennifer Renner expressed her admiration for the Imam: “Imam, you are so brave, you stay safe, I do hope this cleric family is being monitored closely.”
Lately, Imam Tawhidi has been raising controversy for his views that are in opposition to usual views of Islamic preachers and Imams. Also he was quetioned over his credentials by the Australian National Imams Council (ANIC).
Tawhidi's support for far-right Australian groups is notable, including the One Nation group. Tawhidi is also reported as making remarks defending Hanson’s proposal to ban Muslims from entering Australia. He suggested that if there were politicians like her in the Middle East, there would be no ISIS in Iraq.
Regardless of these controversies, Imam Tawhidi has the same right to an opinion as anyone else.
