Times are changing in Iran. Relaxation of visa restrictions and the signing of a nuclear deal have raised hopes that the isolated Islamic Republic might become a popular tourist destination this year.
But when Iran sought to attract visitors, Candy Charms may not have been the target audience they had in mind.
The 25-year-old British porn star sparked minor outrage in Iran yesterday, when it was revealed she had visited Iran for a nose job.
ISNA – a minor news agency in Iran – quoted a deputy foreign minister as saying Charms visited Iran after applying for a visa under a different name and through a travel agency.
In an instagram post, Charms said she had loved Iran, telling fans the Iranian “people are so kind, and generous really overwhelmed by the whole trip,” and adding that “even when people don’t have much they will do anything for you really puts your own life in perspective.”
When Candy left for the Islamic Republic, she was secretive about the destination. But on the July 25, she did tweet to tell fans she was “on holiday” at an unclassified destination – where the wifi was terrible.
Hey guys im on holiday ATM my wifi is terrible can barely use Instagram lol and my Twitter… https://t.co/PJqRdknq22

Reactions to her visit were mixed. While some Iranians welcomed the actress to Iran, even describing themselves as fans of her work, others were more critical – or crude. Some users suggested that a porn actress had no place in Iran, others compared Charms’ breasts to airbags in the taxi she was pictured in.
Charms removed her Instagram account after the furore, but her original post was later uploaded to another account.
