The land of kilts and Braveheart has not seen a major Daesh attack, but the Scottish people appear to be ready if it ever was to happen. Known for their bravery, countless Scots have taken to social media since the rise of Daesh to warn the extremist group that should it ever wish to target Scotland, a William Wallace styled reaction would be awaiting them.
Of course, many would argue that these are empty threats, but history might prove otherwise.
Back in 2007, extremists attempted to blow up Glasgow airport with a Jeep full of propane canisters. The plot did not go as planned, with one of the belligerents being famously tackled to the ground and kicked in his private parts by an off-duty baggage handler.
The baggage handler, John Smeaton, was hailed as a hero in Scotland, and became a feature in countless comedy sketches warning extremists not to target Scotland.
See an excerpt from an interview with Smeaton, via YouTube.
Since the rise of Deash, many Scots have maintained the position that they will be able to handle any attack by the group, however not everyone is so sure.
Their keyboard bravery is oftentimes humorous and occasionally serious, but sometimes others like to keep them in check.
