US Secretary of State John Kerry has met Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi numerous times. With their latest encounter, a video of an Egyptian security official telling Kerry that cell phones and cameras are not allowed when meeting al-Sisi is going viral on Egyptian social media.
The now widely circulated video shows the security official shaking hands with Kerry as he enters the room to meet al-Sisi. He then says “no mobile, no camera?” Kerry first said “what?” in response, before walking away shaking his head to indicate he possessed no such items.
Naturally, many found it humorous that the security official treated Kerry-perhaps the most powerful diplomat in the world-as he would anybody meeting the Egyptian president. ّMany commented on the exchange in English and Arabic.
