No one really knew what to say last week when US Republican congressman Mike Huckabee compared the Iran deal to the Holocaust when he told reporters accepting the accord would be like "taking the Israelis and marching them to the mouth of the oven."
But it appears the Arkansas governor may have some competition on the offensive train. This week, fellow Republican congressman Robert Pittenger, of North Carolina, compared Iran's global threat to the likes of Adolf Hitler. In fact, he said, Iran's is much worse.
Yikes.
During an interview with POTUS radio, Pittenger said Iran made Hitler look like "a minor player," and the administration of US President Barack Obama was counting on the Islamic Republic to "change its stripes," when he should not, because "Hitler did not change his stripes."
He goes on:
"The consequences of this deal make Hitler look [like] a minor player in the context of the challenge to the rest of the world,.”
Now, plenty of people have problems with the Iran deal. But it seems like intelligent ways to express those issues don't include beginning by comparing Iran to Hitler, a cue Pittenger probably should have taken from Huckabee.
But anyway, now that it's happened, can't wait for the Twitter backlash.
