Be careful what you believe on Twitter.
Another prankster reminded us of that when he created a town in Iraq out of thin air on his account, @IraqSurveys, and made Twitter users believe it was being taken over by Daesh (ISIS). Arabic users probably should've caught on, though — the town's name was Shichwa, meaning "Butter Churn."
Hashtag #معركة_الشجوه, or "battle of Butter Churn," started when two guys tweeted out updates, The Daily Beast reported; they even posted a map of the nonexistent place surrounded by militants. The prank became especially elaborate when they uploaded photos of CNN anchors discussing the battle of Shichwa. (They were photoshopped, thankfully.)
The joke fooled everyone — even Daesh supporters.

A tweet in response. Translation: Alien creatures appeared during Shichwa battle and killed tens of Daesh militants
