The Iraqi government and its allies are gearing up to retake Mosul from Daesh (ISIS). While the militant group still looms large on the Mosul streets, their days may be numbered. Footage released by Iraqi TV station Al Sumaria Friday shows what may be Daesh’s final days in Mosul. And Al Sumaria says things are getting worse there for them.
The video shows Daesh members patrolling Mosul, riding around in pickup trucks with AK-47s waving their infamous black flag. But the video also shows footage of airstrikes against the group. “The constant aerial activity on the Iraqi-Syrian border prevents Daesh from seeking reinforcements for the city,” the video says.
Al Sumaria further claims vast numbers of Daesh fighters have deserted their ranks recently.
The Iraqi and its allies are expected to make a major push into the city in the coming months.
