Dozens of young people from "6 April" movement, the Muslim Brotherhood and other opposition groups on Sunday held a demonstration in front of the Supreme Commission for Elections in Heliopolis in protest against what they called fraud and abuses that took place in the parliamentary elections, which were held last week. The participants chanted slogans against the injustice, hunger, poverty and forgery,
The Egyptian security forces were quick to surround the protesters.
The protest came as Egypt held the second and final round of the parliamentary elections. The vote took place in in 166 constituencies, and amid fierce competition among 566 candidates, including 383 of the ruling party, 167 independents and 16 representing the opposition parties.
