Egyptian security sources on Wednesday spoke about the involvement of Palestinian factions from the Gaza Strip controlled by Hamas in the firing of several rockets from the Sinai Peninsula on the towns of Aqaba and Eilat on Monday. The Middle East news agency quoted an Egyptian security official as saying Egypt would not accept in any way that its soil will be used to harm Egyptian interests.

Hamas has strongly denied any involvement in rocket firing. A senior Hamas leader has even questioned the news about the launch of a  "Grad" rocket towards Eilat.Dr. Salah Bardawil denied any link to the movement and accused Israel of searching for excuses to justify its aggression against the Gaza Strip. He said: "We are not interested to be dragged into war against the Palestinian people who are still bleeding. The enemy knows that we did not launch missiles, which were not fired from Gaza."
