Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi on Wednesday said Iran is ready to provide Lebanon's army with cutting-edge military equipment. "Lebanon is our friend. If we receive any demand [for equipping their army], we have full potential to help them," Fars news agency quoted General Vahidi as saying on Wednesday.

Following an exchange of fire that left three Lebanese troops and one Israeli officer dead, US officials announced the freezing of 100 million dollars in military aid destined for Beirut. Upon this announcement, Lebanese President Michel Sleiman asked Iranian officials to consider selling advanced military equipment to the Lebanese Army.

On Saturday,  Vahidi said that Iran's "dynamic defense industry is capable of exporting arms to over 50 countries in the world."
