The Jordanian government will remain “committed as ever” to the US-led coalition operation against Daesh in Syria, despite growing concerns over the fate of captured pilot Lt. Mu’ath al-Kasasbeh, AP reports.

The announcement by the kingdom’s Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh came a day after Japanese national Kenji Goto was beheaded in a Daesh propaganda video.

Jordan’s King Abdullah called the execution of the 47-year-old journalist a “criminal act” in a phone call with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, according to AP.

Daesh militants had originally demanded a trade of Iraqi prisoner Sajida al-Rishawi for al-Kasasbeh last week. Jordan’s government has said it is willing to exchange the prisoner pending the wellbeing of Lt. al-Kasasbeh
