Arsenal sold Alex Song to FC Barcelona two seasons ago for a fee of £16 million. But, two years removed from the move the Cameroon international has yet to break into a regular first team place with Barcelona.

With the Spanish side working to be able to have an opportunity to make some moves this summer as they are in the midst of a transfer ban appeal that will help them keep enough cards in their hands to make a few changes this summer, they need all the capital they can find.

Song was a strong presence for Arsenal in the Premier League and the playing style of the league fit well with his abilities.

However, his failure to make the adaptation to Spain is looking like it will be his ticket back to the Premier League with several major clubs looking to bring him back from Spain.

Manchester United are certainly looking to make a large amount of signings this summer in hopes of bringing quality into the side. Liverpool on the other hand truly need a solid midfield enforcer having not had one since the Reds sold Javier Mascherano to Barcelona several years ago.

At half his original price tag of £16 million, both the Reds and Red Devils are expected to be looking to make the change for only £8 million and bring in a veteran midfielder that will help to sure up their defensive responsibilities for their attack friendly and freely mindset
