Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak blamed Israel on Sunday for the deadlock in talks with the Palestinians, warning that security could be achieved only through peace and not occupation or force. "Israel should understand that the country's people will only be safe, when their government carried out peace talks instead of military talks," Mubarak said.
Addressing a joint session of the Egyptian parliament's two chambers on Sunday, the Egyptian leader urged Washington and other Mideast peace brokers to "assume their responsibility" to break the deadlock in the peace process.
