Two homemade bombs exploded along Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's route in Ankara on Monday. The bombs were placed in the courtyard of a building in the Çankaya neighborhood. The first detonated one half-hour before, while the second exploded in the same location just 15 minutes after the president passed the building on Monday.

A team of security officials is investigating the explosions. They found three plastic bottles in which the homemade bombs were placed, including a third that had not yet exploded. Experts reported that the explosives would have a relatively weak impact.

The team is still working to determine who was behind the explosions and their intended purpose.

Last month, two homemade bombs were found in Turkish shopping malls, and a female suicide bomber killed herself and a policeman in an Istanbul police station.
