Deserters attacked at dawn security centers of the regime in the region of Damascus, while government troops continued its offensive against the rebel cities including Homs, which again was heavily bombed. As violence goes on, the international envoy Kofi Annan was in Moscow to assess how far the Russian leadership is ready to move to pressure the Syrian regime, their ally, which turned a deaf ear to calls to stop the bloody repression of the revolt.

In the region of Damascus, "a group of armed deserters attacked military security and state security centers in Nabak town, firing RPGs," reported the Syrian Observatory of Human Rights. In Homs, the local coordinating committees (LCC) reported heavy fire on several new neighborhoods including Khaldiye, Bab Hud and Hamidie.

Close to the border with Turkey, the town of Aazaz continued to be pounded by military helicopters, according to the LCC. Army deserters from the Free Syrian Army tried to block highways to prevent the army to transport reinforcements. In the province of Deraa (south), tanks entered the village of Nawa, the LCC said, adding that heavy gunfire heard in the region.
