At least four Tunisian officers were killed in what has been called a "terrorist attack" on the home of the country's Interior Minister, according to Agence France Presse Wednesday.
"Four police officers were killed and another injured during a terrorist attack with Kalashnikov rifles that targeted the Kasserine home of the interior minister [Lofti Ben Jeddou]," government spokesman Mohamed Ali Aroui told AFP.
No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack, but a local resident told AFP that he saw two assailants who conducted the attack wearing balaclavas on the scene.
Two other prominent government leaders were assassinated in Tunisia within the past year, which ignited months of political violence that eventually culminated into the resignation of the Ennahda-led government early January this year.
