Yemeni security forces have captured a man suspected of financing al-Qaeda in Yemen, the Interior Ministry said on Saturday. According to SABA news agency, the man is a Yemeni expatriate called Saleh al-Raimi, 33, who lives permanently in Saudi Arabia, and was captured on Friday in Sana'a International Airport coming from Saudi Arabia.
The ministry conveyed al-Raimi's name was in the blacklist and wanted for financing al-Qaeda activities in Yemen. The security services at Sana'a International Airport arrested on Thursday Khaled al-Obeidi, a Yemeni citizen, accused of kidnapping a Japanese engineer in Sana'a in 2009.
Al-Obeidi has been arrested after his arrival at the airport Thursday coming from the Egyptian capital Cairo. The Japanese engineer was released unharmed few days after local tribal leaders negotiated with his abductors.
