The Yemeni parliament will question the deputy prime minister over leaked US cables that indicated the Yemeni government covered up American raids on al-Qaeda in the country, parliament members told Reuters on Monday. Rashad al-Alimi, Deputy Prime Minister for Security and Defense Affairs, has been asked to attend a session in the parliament on Wednesday to discuss the details appeared in the U.S. documents.
According to cables released by WikiLeaks, Yemen's deputy prime minister joked that he had just "lied" by telling parliament that Yemeni forces had carried out the strikes.
A government official said the information in the leaked documents were inaccurate.
