McDonald’s makes it a yearly tradition to give back to the Children Cancer Center of Lebanon

Giving back to the community is essential at McDonald’s and how about if it was for the children of the Children Cancer Center of Lebanon (CCCL). Offering those kids a generous present has been, for the last four years, a delight for McDonald’s.
On the 23rd of February, the amount of 30,000,000LL collected by this year’s fundraising program was donated to the CCCL during a visit to the center followed by a memorable entertaining lunch at the McDonald’s Ain El Mreisseh.
It was a beautiful and unforgettable day for the children. It all started with the special appearance of Ronald McDonald, amusing and drawing a smile on every face. At the Children Cancer Center, the McDonald’s team delivered the cheque collected to the benefit of the CCCL. Mrs. Hana Chaar Choueib, CCCL’s General Manager, and Ms. Maria Mamlouk, CCCL’s Project Manager, welcomed the team with much appreciation for the continuous support.
McDonald’s keeps proving the big role it plays in humanitarian causes, always caring for the children’s wellbeing, their good health and the importance of giving them a good time.
Donation box are placed throughout the year in McDonald’s 23 branched located all over Lebanon and at the end of each year the money collected from these boxes are delivered to the Children Cancer Center of Lebanon in an effort to help cure kids with cancer.
The Children Cancer Center of Lebanon is a unique regional center for the comprehensive treatment of pediatric cancer. The CCCL depends on donations, and its ability to fulfill its mission is constrained by the availability of funds at its disposal.
McDonald’s wants to make a difference in the children’s life and believes that, today more than ever, it is important to give back.

In 1917, 15-year-old Ray Kroc lied about his age to join the Red Cross as an ambulance driver, but the war ended before he completed his training. He then worked as a piano player, a paper cup salesman and a Multimixer salesman.
In 1954, he visited a restaurant in San Bernardino, California that had purchased several Multimixers. There he found a small but successful restaurant run by brothers Dick and Mac McDonald, and was stunned by the effectiveness of their operation. They produced a limited menu, concentrating on just a few items – burgers, fries and beverages – which allowed them to focus on quality and quick service.
They were looking for a new franchising agent and Kroc saw an opportunity. In 1955, he founded McDonald’s System, Inc., a predecessor of the McDonald’s Corporation, and six years later bought the exclusive rights to the McDonald’s name and operating system. By 1958, McDonald’s had sold its 100 millionth hamburger

Because “no child should die in the dawn of life,” the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee, USA opened its doors in 1962, making Danny Thomas’s dream come true. Danny’s wish was to open a similar institute in his home country; thus in 2002, the Children’s Cancer Center of Lebanon (CCCL) was inaugurated with a mission to save children’s lives.
