Israel Supreme Court: Bedouin have no indigenous rights   

Israel’s Supreme Court made a significant ruling this week, setting a precedent for the state to approve the expropriation of Palestinian land in future cases, specifically inside Israel.

The court rejected a five-year old petition filed by the Al Uqbi family to recognize its ownership over a large plot of land in Israel’s Negev/Naqab Desert. The land also includes the unrecognized village Al Arakib, which is still in its own legal battle for recognition from the stae.

Tehran group launches anti-Daesh cartoon and caricature exhibition  

Organizers in Tehran have launched a series of gallery exhibitions across the Iranian capital, highlighting the atrocities committed by the terror-group Daesh (ISIS) across Iraq and Syria. A call for submissions to the “International ISIS Cartoon and Caricature Contest” was announced in February, and planners are hoping to hold further viewings in Iraq, Syria, and Lebanon.

In Iran, almost everybody knows Mohammad Reza Zaeri. The one time editor-in-chief of the popular Tehran daily newspaper Hamshahri, recently he is better known for his stance on one of Iran’s most divisive issues: the compulsoary hejab.

On May 27, Zaeri travelled to Qom to take part in the seminary town’s first-ever public debate about mandatory Islamic headscarves in Iran.
