NBAD sponsors World Future Energy Summit
The National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD), the Number One Bank in the UAE, is proud to sponsor the internationally-acclaimed World Future Energy Summit (WFES) in Abu Dhabi in January 2011 at which NBAD speakers present to the forum the Bank’s sustainable initiatives and strategy.
WFES is under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and the Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces. WFES, taking place January 17, 18, 19 in Abu Dhabi Exhibition Centre, brings to Abu Dhabi leaders, policy-makers, renowned experts, and executives of energy companies from nearly 40 countries to Abu Dhabi to speak about and discuss renewable, safe, secure and sustainable energy and clean technology.
“NBAD’s sponsorship and support for the World Future Energy Summit is directly related to the Bank’s vision and objectives -- NBAD is fully committed to Abu Dhabi’s strategy for sustainable growth as defined in Abu Dhabi Vision 2030. This Bank is also committed to raising Abu Dhabi’s global profile and we believe sponsoring and contributing to forums and dialogues on energy and sustainability is certainly a key means in achieving this goal,” said Michael H. Tomalin, the Group Chief Executive of NBAD. “Moreover, NBAD has made corporate sustainability and responsibility a key strategy: We aim to make our operations sustainable and we consider the impact of our business and transactions on the environment and we seek to transact in ways that benefit the communities we are in.”
NBAD has one of the region’s most energetic Corporate Sustainability and Responsibility (CSR) programmes. NBAD is the first UAE bank to publish its annual Sustainability Report, which follows established global guidelines, and the Bank is a founding member of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Group and a member of its General Secretariat.
“WFES is an extraordinary event where leaders, policy-makers and innovators address the world’s energy challenges and the vast opportunities evolving in response to these challenges-- this event provides a forum for every organisation to better understand and plan for the future,” said Belinda Scott, the Senior Manager of CSR at NBAD, who is one of the Bank's speakers at the summit. “NBAD will continue on the path of being a ‘green’ company by adopting and embedding sustainability management into the core of the Bank.”
Ahmad Al Naqbi, the Head of Channels & Electronic Banking Services, will also address the forum and he will introduce to the audience a number of sustainable banking products that NBAD will rollout this year.
“NBAD will take the forefront in introducing sustainable products to ensure the best utilisation of our resources and offer a choice to socially- and environmentally-conscious consumers,” Mr. Al Naqbi said.
