At the Modhesh Little Trader’s zone, a cosy kiosk named ‘Say Cheez’ gives customers a chance to have their pictures taken and digitally printed on absolutely any given material. The team of local staff is very excited about this concept that they have devised to give more meaning to gifts and souvenirs at Modhesh Fun City, sponsored this year by du, the integrated telecom service provider in the UAE.
Abdullah Alansari, who is the photographer at the stall said, “We believe in our products and services, which is why we have not publicised about it through any medium. It is purely by word of mouth that the work has gained ground and client loyalty. Our brand was launched at the Global Village last year and due to the positive response we received we came to MFC this time. We’ve had good business – mostly through locals and tourists.”
He added, “Here we print pictures on bags, mugs, key chains, stoneware, ceramics, brooches, cards, fridge magnets, photo frames, mouse pads and even T-shirts. We have a small studio at the back of this stall, where we take the pictures and then set it into the preferred design and deliver the finished product in 15 minutes. It’s all about personalising the product and adding to its value and memory.”
Masooma Shaheen, the manager and designer at the stall said, “We have earned a reputation of bringing in work within the given time frame and on a limited budget. The goods can be purchased from a price range of AED 8 to AED 50, depending on what item you have selected for personalising. We have not yet set up our own shop locally; we are presently banking on acclaimed events and venues like Modhesh Fun City to create awareness among consumers about our services. Once we have the recognition, we may consider expanding the work to a regular basis.”
“All the members on our team are locals and we look at this work as an opportunity to support the potential we have. So far, the feedback has been great and we hope to continue on that popularity,” she added.
Housed at the Airport Expo in Dubai, Modhesh Fun City is open to all from 10.00am to 10.00pm, Saturday to Wednesday. On Thursdays and Fridays, the venue remains open until 12.00am. It opens at 3.00pm on Fridays. Entry fee is AED 20 per person.
