Sharjah Investment and Development Authority "Shurooq, has announced the conclusion of its successful participation at the ‘Investment and Tourism Conference – Oman 2009’ that took place recently in the Sultanate of Oman. Shurooq’s delegation was headed by its CEO, H.E. Commenting on the participation, Al Sarkal said: “The tourism sector is considered a cornerstone in all economies and is a major source of job opportunities for the region. With other sectors focussing on refurbishment after being hit by the financial crisis, we think this is the right time to invest in sectors that can maintain the balance and aid the growth of the economies. The conference was the ideal platform to discuss and share thoughts and to meet with ambitious investors who are eager to contribute in the growth of tourism in the GCC through world class projects, and we are looking forward to see the results soon enough.”
The conference hosted several sessions covering key issues such as the importance of investing in the tourism sector, the current obstacles facing the sector, the global trends that have proven to be a great success and investment opportunities in the Sultanate of Oman through the economical plan “Oman 2020”. The conference saw the presence of major government representatives, investors, chairmen and CEO’s from different countries and discussed opportunities of future cooperation in touristic projects.
