ALBAWABA- At least 40 people were killed and 70 others wounded in an artillery strike on Kadugli, the capital of South Kordofan.
Medical sources attribute the attack to a faction of the Sudan People's Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N) led by Abdel Aziz al-Hilu.
The group has been engaged in ongoing clashes with both the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) since the outbreak of war in April 2023.
Meanwhile, the Sudanese army has made significant advances against the RSF, recapturing the al-Jaili refinery and lifting the siege on its General Command headquarters in Khartoum.
These developments mark a major turning point in the conflict, as the SAF vows to reclaim all territories held by the RSF, including strategic areas in Darfur and Kordofan.
The RSF, however, has dismissed the army’s claims as "propaganda."
The war has resulted in a deep humanitarian crisis, displacing over 12 million people and leaving half of Sudan’s population facing severe hunger.
