Eleven Pakistani companies will showcase their defense ware at the 5th Idex, (International Defense Exhibition) and Conference, to be held in Abu Dhabi from March 18 to 22, according to the Pakistani news site, DAWN.

According to the report, the show is one of the most important exhibitions in the region being held under the umbrella of the Defense Export Promotion Organization (Depo) and coordinated by the new defense attaché at the Pakistan Embassy Group Captain Zahid Qadeer Malik.

The embassy's press counselor Rao Liaquat Ali Khan told the news service that Pakistan has gained a reputation for quality defense products at highly competitive prices as compared to western manufacturers.

The Emirati news agency (WAM) reported in January that this year’s show will open with a global vision surpassing geo-political boundaries and embracing futuristic concepts of defense, according to Staff Colonel Sultan O.B. Al Suweidi, Director-General, General Exhibition Corporation (GEC). A significant change in the show is that it will be for the first time hosted by the GEC and not by the Conference of Defense Exhibition (Codex) as in the past.

For the first time, the agency added, participants in the live demonstration events will not be charged, said Col. Suweidi – Albawaba.com
