Turkish Prime Minister Abdullah Gul's son has been called up to do his military service even though he is only... 11 years of age, Turkish media reported Saturday.
Mehmet Emre Gul, who goes to school in the capital of Ankara, received a letter on Thursday from the defense ministry ordering him to report immediately to an army enrollment office to carry out the necessary formalities for his military service, AFP reported.
Government aides informed defense ministry officials of the letter, who acknowledged that it had been sent by mistake.
It should be noted that military service is obligatory in Turkey from the age of 18. (Albawaba.com)
