Twelve people died in two car accidents on a foggy Monday morning in Upper Egypt, police sources said.
A taxi and truck collided, killing nine people and injuring two others, north of Matay, a town near Samallut, 230 kilometers, or 143 miles, south of Cairo.
In Samallut, two drivers and a passenger died when a car and truck collided. The police said they blamed the accidents on the morning fog, which is common at this time of year. They added that there had been several automobile deaths during the last few days -- SAMALLUT, Egypt (AFP)
