1,271 addicts and drug traffickers were arrested during the past 20 days by the Law Enforcement Forces (LEF), according to a report released by the provincial LEF, cited by official news agency (IRNA).

The report said 907 out of the total were addicts while the rest were drug traffickers.

The LEF also seized more than 861 drugs and nine cars from the addicts and drug traffickers.

Iran has been seeking international help in its campaign against drug trafficking since the country’s location to the west of drug producing countries and closer to Europe and the Gulf states makes it an ideal transit country.
