Sixteen people were killed when explosions ripped through two buses in the northern Israeli port city of Haifa around midday (1000 GMT) Sunday, Israeli public radio said.
Haaretz said that 15 were critically injured and 40 others were wounded in the blasts.
The new casualties push the death toll of Israelis in the latest Palestinian uprising to well over 200, and the tally of wounded to past 2,000.
The Tel Aviv-based Haaretz has reported that the number of Palestinians killed in the 14-month rebellion against 34 years of occupation now exceeds 700, and the toll of wounded is between 8,500 and 10,000.
