Two buses crashed Monday south of La Paz, leaving 17 dead and some 50 injured after one steered out of control and rammed the other head-on, authorities said.
The buses, traveling in opposite directions on the La Paz to Oruro highway, were crammed with Christmas travelers. Several children were among the dead, the transport office in Oruro reported.
Both of the drivers were killed, and just five passengers escaped unscathed, police said -- LA PAZ (AFP)
