Maher Ragheb recently won the Grand Final 9mm Pistol Shooting Competition 2008 organized by the Sharjah Golf & Shooting Club and took home two brand new Toyota FJ Cruisers. Ragheb, who is a Syrian, scored a total of 88 points.
Second prize was Abdullah Abdul Kareem who won Dhs30,000 with a score of 83, while third prize winner Khalid Saeed Ghareeb received Dhs10,000 for garnering 73 points. Both are from the UAE.
The three winners completed the four rounds of the competition which started on February 9.
The fourth and final round held on December 6 saw each participant take 18 shots in 90 seconds. The first six shots were fired within a distance of 15 meters using one hand. The next six shots were within a distance of 20 meters using both hands. And the last six shots were within 25 meters also using both hands.
In addition, the three winners of the fourth round were Abdullah Abdul Kareem, 1st prize worth Dhs10,000; Humaid Abdullah, 2nd prize worth Dhs5,000; and Mohammed Sultan, 3rd prize worth Dhs3,000.
Sharjah Golf and Shooting Club operates the only shooting range in the UAE that is open to the general public offering different types of calibers and pistols like the Glock, Sig Sauer , HK, CZ and Beretta 9mm models.
The competition was organized under the patronage of H.E. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Abdullah Al Thani, Managing Director of Sharjah Golf and Shooting Club. Sponsors are Air BP, SABA Property, ADCOM and Sharjah Islamic Financial Services.
