Twenty people were injured when a public transport bus skidded off a road in northern Jordan amid heavy rains, police officials said in statements published Friday.
The accident in northern Jordan occurred Thursday as a result of a landslide caused by heavy rains and the bus driver was among those hurt, with most suffering cuts and concussions, they said according to Al Dustour daily.
Rain and hail storms lashed large parts of eastern and southern Jordan Wednesday and Thursday causing flash floods in many low-lying areas and stranding several dozen people.
Army helicopters were used in relief efforts to rescue many people stranded in their cars, homes or adjacent fields particularly in the southern parts of the kingdom, officials said -- AMMAN (AFP)
