The remains of some 200 Bosnian Muslims, believed to have been killed by Serb forces at the end of Bosnia's 1992-95 war, were exhumed from a mass grave in northeastern Bosnian, a local official said Wednesday.

The remains, that have been excavated over the past three weeks, are believed to be those of Bosnian Muslims from Srebrenica, the site of the worst massacre in Europe since World War II, Amor Masovic, head of the Muslim-led state commission for missing people, told AFP.

Separate groups of victims have been killed in a number of sites around Srebrenica, the UN-protected zone at the time, but were later moved by Bosnian Serb forces to several mass graves in the area, Masovic said.

"Several complete bodies were found among unattached body parts (at the grave), as well as evidence that some of the victims had been blindfolded," he added.

Another 930 bodies have been exhumed since the begining of the year from four mass graves in northeastern Bosnia, bringing the number of bodies of Srebrenica victims that have been found to about 5,000, Masovic said.

The exhumation work in the area was to continue over the following weeks as at least one more mass grave had been found there, he added.

UN war crimes investigators in The Hague are monitoring the work, Masovic said.
