The third round of the 2006 UAE National Karting Championship took place at the Kartdrome CIK certified circuit of the Dubai Autodrome last weekend.

First race of the day was the Cadets, 14 drivers raced for the win but only four battled for the lead and each had the chance to bring home the win. When the checkered flew, it was Patrick Elliot bringing it home with Edward Jones second, Tiarnan Okelly third, and Woody Stika in fourth.

In the Juniors Category, Howard Cracknell led the race from start to finish. Second went to Rashed Khairallah with Tom Fisher Third.

The Showcased race of the weekend was the Rotax Max Light Weight. This category again was loaded with many fine drivers. In the final race Christophe Hissete pulled out to an early lead that he would keep. His fastest lap was second best of the day. Christopher Edwards would attempt to run him down but never mounted a challenge. The race was for second between Edwards and Anthony Byrne who settled for third.

Once again Steven Mclintock was victorious in the Rotax heavy weight category. Chris Wishart took second position, while third place went to Paul Vealsco.

The Biland/RM1 was the last race of the day. Sean Murphy put in a brilliant performance by winning the Final and he proved he was the fastest all day. Sean dominated the final by leading every lap of the 15-lap race to take a comfortable victory. Second place went to Bernard Nawfal who battled with Paul McCann.

The day ended with the podium ceremonies and trophies were handed to the top three drivers from each category. Next stop for the 2006 UAE National Karting Championship is on April 28. Entrance is free for the general public. For more information visit www.dubaiautodrome.com
