ALBAWABA - The UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA) said on Sunday that so far 29 of its active staff members in Gaza have been killed so far in the ongoing Israeli aggression on Gaza.
In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, the official UNRWA account posted: "We are in shock and mourning. It is now confirmed that 29 of our colleagues in Gaza have been killed since October 7".
Hundreds of thousands of people in Gaza have sought refuge in the UNRWA schools and facilities across in hopes of securing a safe place from the brutal Israeli airstrikes that have been going on for the last 17 days.
Over the weekend, a UNRWA school was bombed heavily without a warning putting the lives of those who took refuge in it at risk.
Following days of international talks, the UN was able to allow 20 aid trucks into the besieged Gaza Strip, which sparked outrage among Gazans, who said that the amount of medical and humanitarian aid required to keep the various sectors operating is nowhere near what has been allowed to enter the strip.
Reports say that on regular days, more than 500 trucks used to enter Gaza on a daily basis carrying all different types of basic needs for everyday use.
In its latest reports, the Ministry of Health in Gaza reported that following what counts as the most brutal night of Israeli airstrikes on Gaza, the death toll has risen to more than 5,000 people, with more than 70 percent being children, women and elderly.
Meanwhile, the injury toll has exceeded 15,900 varying between extremely severe and minor injuries.
