ALBAWABA - Three civilians were killed, and two policemen were wounded, in a shooting in Farmington, New Mexico, Monday, U.S. police said.

"There are multiple civilian casualties," Farmington Police said in a Facebook post, adding that one suspect "was confronted and killed at the scene."

According to the police, "the identity of the suspect is unknown and there are no known other threats at this time," adding that the police are still following up on the incident.

Informed sources said that the two policemen, who were injured during the accident, were taken to hospital for treatment, and their condition is stable.
The town's schools were temporarily closed, following the incident, but in the early afternoon the closure orders were lifted, and the Farmington Municipal Schools announced that "all students and staff are safe."
An investigation was launched to uncover the circumstances of the Farmington's incident, which has a population of 50,000 and is located about 320 km from the state capital, Santa Fe.
