ALBAWABA- A powerful explosion at a fireworks manufacturing plant in central China’s Hunan province has killed three people and injured 25 others, authorities said on Monday.
The blast occurred at the Liuyang Huasheng Fireworks Manufacturing and Display Co. in Guandu Township, Liuyang City. Emergency and fire rescue teams were deployed immediately to the scene, where fires continued to burn into the evening as operations focused on containment and rescue.
Officials confirmed three fatalities and 25 injuries, including two people in serious condition. The cause of the explosion remains under investigation, with authorities yet to release preliminary findings.
The incident took place in Liuyang, widely known as China’s “fireworks capital” and one of the world’s largest production hubs for pyrotechnics. The city’s fireworks industry plays a major role in both the local economy and global supply chains.
Although tighter regulations and modernisation efforts have reduced accidents in recent years, serious incidents continue to occur in major production areas such as Liuyang, prompting periodic safety inspections and regulatory reviews.
